- Brake system. Visually check the tightness and condition of pipelines, hoses, brake cylinders and their connections. Check the brake fluid level.
- Disc brakes. Check the thickness of the brake pads on the front right wheel.
- Brake discs. Check the residual thickness of the front right brake disc.
- Brake drums of back wheels. Check the thickness of the rear brake pads.
- Parking brake. Check functionality.
- Parking brake. Carry out the adjustment.
- Brake fluid. Replace.
- Tires. Check the tire pressure, including the spare wheel.
- Tire sealant «TTREFIT». If it is included, check the expiration date and update if necessary.
- Tires. Check the remaining tread of the tires, including the spare wheel, and the tire pressure. Check tire wear and damage patterns.
Brake lines - check
No special tool is required to perform the test.
Attention! Jacking or jacking up your vehicle is a risk of injury, so read the safety precautions before doing this.
1. Put the car on the goats.
2. Clean the brake lines if they are dirty.
Attention! The pipelines of the brake system are made of metal and coated with a layer of polymer material to prevent corrosion. If the protective polymer layer is damaged, the pipeline may rust. Therefore, cleaning the brake pipelines with a metal brush, sandpaper is not allowed.
3 Check, by lighting with a flashlight, the tightness of the brake pipelines going from the master brake cylinder to the ABS hydraulic unit and to the wheel brakes. The master brake cylinder is located in the engine compartment under the brake fluid expansion tank.
The ABS hydraulic unit is also located in the engine compartment under the brake fluid reservoir.
The brake system pipelines must not have kinks, dents or breaks. They must not have corrosion pits or chafed spots.
Otherwise, such a pipeline to the next joint should be replaced with a new one. This work must be done in the workshop. Brake hoses connect pipelines to the wheel brake cylinders and are routed near the moving parts of the vehicle.
They are made of high pressure material, but over time they can become porous, swell, or be cut by sharp objects. In the presence of at least one of these defects, the hose must be replaced.
4. Locate damage by bending the brake hoses (see illustration). When installing, be careful not to twist the hoses and refer to the color markings, if any.
5. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and then to the right. Brake hoses must not touch other parts of the vehicle in any position of the wheels.
Joints of pipelines and hoses must not be wet. The presence of moisture is evidence of a brake fluid leak.
6. Lower the car on wheels.
