Attention! Jacking up a vehicle or placing it on jack stands is dangerous. Therefore, it is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the safety precautions outlined in chapter «car jacking».
1. Put the car on the goats.
2. Apply adhesive tape 1 to the center of the rear tire tread (see illustration). The tape edge will serve as the starting point for the measurement.
Attention! The tape can be omitted if it is possible to use the groove in the center of the tire tread as a starting point.
3. Place a ruler or folding rule 2 on the tire, resting the end of the ruler against the wheel well guard (fender liner), and measure the distance to the edge of the sticky tape.
4. Grasp the rim and move the wheel from side to side across the direction of travel. A play of 1 mm is allowed. It is required to shift the wheel with a force of at least 100 N or 10 kr. If the play is greater than specified, then the trailing arm bearing needs to be replaced. The work is done in the workshop.
5. Remove the tape from the tire.
6. Take a measurement on the opposite side.
7. Lower the car on wheels.
