- When driving off-road, try to avoid obviously dangerous routes, make sure that all people in the car are wearing seat belts.
- Before starting the ascent or descent, make sure that there are no high bumps and deep pits on the way, try to adequately assess the steepness of the slope.
- Avoid driving across slopes - the vehicle's center of gravity is high enough to increase the risk of rollover. Try to choose a route with a minimum steepness of the ascent - when the engine is stopped, it is much more difficult to control the rate of descent.
- Do not change gears while descending a slope, as this risks losing control of the vehicle. Use engine braking, as the effectiveness of the foot brake may be reduced, which is fraught with an accident.
- When the engine is stopped while driving uphill, in no case try to turn the car around! Move the selector lever to position «R» and begin the descent, trying to move strictly parallel to the direction of the slope.
Attention! Never descend in neutral («N») transmission position while holding the vehicle with the brakes!
- Active use of the brakes when driving downhill can lead to a decrease in the effectiveness of the functioning of the brakes due to overheating. Try not to slow down too much - move in a lower gear.
- In order to avoid excessive lifting of the center of gravity of the vehicle, try not to overload the roof rack, make sure that the load placed in the car is evenly distributed. Heavy objects should be placed in the luggage compartment as low as possible and close to the passenger compartment. Do not install larger wheels on the vehicle than are permitted by the regulations.
- When driving off-road, hold the steering wheel by the rim with your fingers tightly wrapped around it.
- Before driving, do not forget to fasten your seat belt and make sure that all passengers are also fastened.
- Do not forget to lay mats on the floor - the surface of the panels can warm up significantly.
- To avoid the risk of loss of control, try to reduce your speed in strong crosswinds.
- Try to prevent wheel spin when accelerating, braking and maneuvering.
- Avoid sharp turns whenever possible, especially when driving at high speeds. Remember that SUVs, due to their higher center of gravity, have significantly less rollover resistance than road cars.
- Do not allow wheels of different sizes to be fitted to the vehicle. All tires must be the same diameter, width, design (diagonal, diagonal-girdling or radial) and tread pattern. When driving on slippery road surfaces in mountainous areas, use snow chains and drive with extreme caution.
- Avoid parking your vehicle on sloped terrain.
- Keep in mind that if your vehicle is regularly used in deep mud, sand or water, it should be serviced more frequently than specified in the Routine Maintenance Schedule (see chapter Schedule of ongoing maintenance).
