Running in a new car (Mercedes-Benz M-Class W163)

0
In order to ensure the reliability and durability of the vehicle in operation, the following rules must be followed during the first 15,000 km of mileage:
  • Do not start off at full throttle, avoid sudden acceleration and excessive increases in engine speed;
  • Try to move at a speed no more than 2/3 of the maximum value;
  • Shift gears in a timely manner, avoid engine braking;
  • On models with AT, use ranges 3, 2 and 1 only when necessary and at low driving speeds;
  • Avoid activating kickdown mode - do not press the gas pedal all the way down;
  • Do not brake too sharply. Normal running-in of new brake pads occurs over a 300 km run, during which time you should, if possible, brake smoothly and with moderate intensity.

After repairing or replacing the engine, as well as after replacing the brake pads, it is necessary to observe similar restrictions and recommendations.
