Running-in the first 1500 kilometers (Mercedes-Benz G-Class W463)

0
The more carefully you treat the engine at the beginning of its operation, the more satisfied you will be with its operation later.

Therefore, for the first 1500 km you should drive at variable speed and engine speed.

Avoid heavy loads during this period (driving with the throttle fully open), try not to exceed 2/3 of the maximum permissible engine speed when driving in the selected gear (red range of tachometer scale).

If possible, try to avoid pressing the gas pedal past the point of resistance (activate kickdown mode).

Do not downshift manually for engine braking purposes. Set the AT selector lever to the range limiting positions only when driving at low speeds, such as in mountainous terrain.

After the first 1,500 km of travel, the driving speed and engine speed can be gradually increased to the maximum values.

Additionally for AMG vehicles: try not to drive at speeds exceeding 140 km/h for the first 1500 km and not to raise the engine speed above 4500 rpm.
