Attention! The Parktronic system does not recognize objects located in the immediate vicinity of the rear bumper at a height below or above its level (flower beds, trailer drawbars, etc. - be careful!
PTS provides the driver with information about the distance to an obstacle when reversing the vehicle.
The system is activated automatically when the ignition key is turned to the position 2 and when the reverse gear is engaged ("R"), the system is also switched off automatically.
Attention! The correct functioning of the Parktronic system largely depends on the degree of contamination of the ultrasonic sensors mounted in the rear bumper cover. Interference may be caused by ultrasonic sources (including the screeching of air brakes of trucks).

The risk zone is monitored by four sensors mounted in the rear bumper cover. The range of the sensors is 150 cm for central sensors, 100 cm for angle sensors. The minimum permissible distance between the sensor and the obstacle is 30 cm, then the sensitivity threshold is violated. Keep the bumper surface clean.

A special Parktronic indicator light is located in the upper right corner of the rear of the passenger compartment, next to the tailgate on Estate models and on the upper right on the roll bar on Convertible models.
PTS indicator light design
The indicator is divided into three sections with 2 red, 2 yellow and 2 green segments - the full activation of the segments corresponds to the distance to the nearest obstacle. About dangerous approach to the obstacle (activation of red indicator segments) the driver is warned by a 3-second continuous acoustic signal.
When connecting the trailer wiring to the towbar connector (with the appropriate vehicle configuration) the system automatically switches off.
If the PTS malfunctions, the red segments of the system indicator light are activated and a 3-second acoustic signal is emitted - check the cleanliness of the bumper surfaces. If necessary, drive the car to a Mercedes-Benz service station to perform the necessary restorative repair of the system.
