Airbags

Removal
Please read the safety precautions for handling the airbag.
Note: Illustrations are for informational purposes only and may not fully correspond to the model in question.
1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable with the ignition off. The cabin air filter box must be removed first.
Warning! Before disconnecting the cable, find out the radio receiver security code, if any, refer to Section Replacing the battery.
2. Insulate both battery terminals to prevent accidental contact.
3. Fully extend the steering wheel by releasing the locking lever.

4. From the inside, remove the two 30 mm Allen screws through the holes in the steering wheel (1), while holding the airbag unit.
Note: In the illustration, the airbag unit has already been removed. (2) – Turn signal switch.

5. Remove the airbag unit (3) from the steering wheel and disconnect the ignition connector (4).
6. Place the airbag unit so that the steering wheel airbag faces upward.
Caution! Do not leave the airbag unit unattended, remove and close it if necessary.
Installation
1. Place the airbag unit on the steering wheel and secure the connector until you hear a distinct click.
2. Lubricate the mounting bolts with thread locking compound and tighten to a torque of 6 Nm.
3. Connect the battery ground (-) cable with the ignition off. Reinstall the cabin air filter box. If necessary, enter the radio code and set the clock.
