Maintaining cleanliness when working on the fuel system
Observe the following rules regarding cleanliness when working on the fuel system.
Thoroughly clean connections and their surroundings before disconnecting them.
Place the dismantled parts on a clean bed and cover them. Use film or paper. Do not use fluffy cloths!
Carefully cover the mounting parts or close them under the key if the repair will not be done soon.
Only remove spare parts from the packaging immediately before assembly. Install only clean parts.
Do not use parts that have been stored unpackaged (e.g. in tool boxes, etc.).
With an open fuel system, if possible, do not work with compressed air. Try not to move the car.
Draining and refueling
Attention! Be sure to pay attention to good ventilation of the workplace. Fuel vapors are poisonous, avoid naked flames due to fire hazard!
1. In addition, make an idle run due to the fuel available in the tank.
2. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery (–).
Attention! This erases the anti-theft code of the radio.
3. Raise the vehicle.
4. Reduce fuel vapor pressure. To do this, briefly open the fuel filler cap.
5. Remove the protective cover from the fuel level sensor. Be careful not to pinch the electrical wires or the fuel drain hose.
6. Remove the plug from the fuel level sensor.
7. Remove the drain plug from the drain valve.
8. Screw the drain hose together with the stop valve into the drain valve.
9. Open the fuel filler cap, open the shut-off valve and drain the fuel into a suitable container.
10. Remove the drain hose and screw in the screw plug with a torque of 15 Nm. First check the O-ring for damage and replace it if necessary.
11. Put the plug on the fuel level sensor, mount the protective cover.
12. Lower the car (remove the jack).
13. Pour fuel through the filler pipe. Be careful not to get dirt particles into the fuel tank.
14. Close the fuel tank cap.
15. Connect the ground wire to the battery. Set the time. Enter the radio's anti-theft code.
16. Start the engine and check all connections for leaks.
