Examination
1. Wear in the universal joint is characterized by vibration in the transmission, noise during acceleration, and metallic squeaking and annoying sounds when the bearing breaks.
2. Hold the front half of the driveline and try to turn the rear. Play between the driveline halves indicates wear. If you find increased axial movement, replace the propeller shaft.
Replacement
3. At the time of writing this manual, there were no parts to repair the universal joint. Therefore, if damage or wear is found in any joint, the driveline assembly should be replaced. Consult your Mercedes-Benz dealer for the current state of affairs.
4. If you need to replace the driveline, you may need to seek the advice of an auto repair specialist. Maybe they can fix it "native" cardan transmission or exchange the transmission for an already restored one.
