The electrical system is 12V with a negative ground wire. An acid battery is used as a power source, recharged by a generator.
This chapter describes the refurbishment and maintenance of various non-engine electrical components and systems. Information regarding the battery, ignition system, alternator, and engine starter is contained in the relevant sections chapter 5.
Caution: Before working on any piece of electrical equipment, disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent a short circuit or fire. If your vehicle has an anti-theft tape recorder, read the appropriate section of this manual before disconnecting the battery.
