The electrical system has a voltage of 12 V with a negative wire on the ground. The power source is an acid battery, recharged by the generator.
This chapter describes the repair and maintenance of various electrical components and systems not related to the engine. Information regarding the battery, ignition system, alternator, and engine starter is contained in the appropriate sections chapters 5.
Caution: Before working on any electrical component, disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent short circuits or fire. If your vehicle is equipped with a theft-protection coded radio, read the information in the appropriate section of this manual before disconnecting the battery.
