Twin carburetor Solex 4A 1 — device (Mercedes-Benz S-Class W116)

Solex carburetor is a two-chamber, falling flow carburetor, the diameter of the first stage mixing chamber is 32 mm and the second stage is 54 mm.

Carburetor designation:
  • 4 - number of mixing chambers;
  • A - designation of the design principle;
  • 1 - execution.

The Solex 4A1 carburetor is distinguished by its simple and compact design, optimal mixture formation, reduced content of harmful substances in exhaust gases and ease of maintenance.

1 - throttle lever,
2 - idle speed adjustment screw,
3 - idle speed control shut-off valve,
4 - accelerator pump adjusting nut,
5 - accelerator pump cover,
6 - starting damper rod,
7-step spacer,
8 - pneumatic drive housing,
9 - starter cover,
10 - vacuum regulator,
11 - idle jet,
12 - 2nd stage pneumatic actuator-damper housing,
13 - needles for adjusting the flow cross-section of air jets,
14 - piston of the pneumatic system of the enrichment device drive at full load,
15 - starting valve,
16 - 2nd stage air damper.
