1. The installation details of the front crankshaft oil seal on the 612 series engines are shown in the illustrations to which all references in the text refer.

2. Remove the accessory drive belt (1).

3. Using the special tool (2), lock the flywheel/drive disk ring gear.

4. Remove the vibration damper/drive belt pulley (6) (see Section Removal and installation the vibration damper/drive belt pulley).



5. Using a screwdriver, remove the old seal (8) from its seat - try not to damage the sealing surfaces.

6. Installation is carried out in the reverse order - use the mandrel (9) to seat the seal.

1. Front end cover/front crankshaft oil seal installation details on 628 Series engines are shown in the illustration to which all references in the text refer.

2. Open the hood and fix it in a vertical position.

3. Remove the vibration damper/drive shaft pulley (3) (see Section Removal and installation the vibration damper/drive belt pulley).

4. Loosen the mounting bolts (5) and remove the front end cover (6) of the engine.

5. Using a screwdriver, remove the old seal (4) from the seat in the cover.

6. Thoroughly clean the mating surface of the end cover and engine block.

7. Apply sealant and install the end cap in its original place.

8. Using a suitable drift, seat the NEW seal into the cover.



9. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of dismantling the components.

10. Finally, start the engine and check for signs of developing leaks through the front oil seal.
