612 Series Engine Torsional Vibration Damper/Drive Belt Pulley Installation Details


1. The 612 Series engine crankshaft pulley/vibration damper installation details are shown in the illustration to which all references in the text refer.

2. Remove the accessory drive belt (1).

3. Using the special tool (3), lock the flywheel/drive disk ring gear.

4. Unscrew the central bolt (4) and remove it together with the disc washer (5).

5. Using a two-pronged puller, remove the pulley/vibration damper assembly (6).

6. Carefully examine the condition of the damper hub/pulley, replace if necessary.

7. Replace the front crankshaft oil seal (see Section Removal and installation the intake port shut-off motor (612 series engine)).

8. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

1. The 628 Series engine crankshaft pulley/torque damper installation details are shown in the illustration to which all references in the text refer.

2. Remove the lower section of sound insulation.

3. Remove the electric cooling fan.

4. Install the radiator/condenser protection screen.

5. Remove the right lower air duct/charge air cooler air hose.

6. Remove the accessory drive belt.

7. Disconnect the cooling system hoses from the water pump.

8. Holding the pulley from turning using the device (2), unscrew the central bolt (1).

9. If necessary, pry off the vibration damper/pulley (3) using a suitable screwdriver.

10. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
