Intermediate Flange Cover Installation Details
2 - Upper back cover; 3 - Bolt M8x80; 4, 7 - Bolt M8x50; 5 - Intermediate flange cover; 6 - Hexagon head bolts M8x50; 8 - Adjusting washers; M46/2 - Transfer case servomotor


1. Remove the servomotor assembly (M46/2) of the transfer case (see Section Removal and installation the transfer case servomotor).

2. Remove the top rear cover (2) - note the difference in length of the mounting bolts.

3. Remove the intermediate flange cover (5) - note the difference in length of the mounting bolts.

4. Check the amount of axial play of the input and intermediate shafts; if necessary, select replacement adjusting washers (8).

5. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

6. Finally, do not forget to initialize the servomotor using the STAR DIGNOSIS reader - contact the specialists of the Mercedes-Benz branded service station for help.
