1. Remove the parking brake shoes (see Chapter Brake and auxiliary systems).

2. Remove the ABS wheel sensor (1) from the bearing cap (3).

3. Unscrew the bolts (2) securing the cover (3) to the rear axle housing sleeve (5).

4. When removing the left half-shaft, remove the differential lock actuator cylinder (see Section Removal, installation and adjustment of actuator cylinders and components of the drive mechanism of the interwheel differential lock).

5. Remove the axle shaft (4), being careful not to damage the wheel sensor rotor.

6. Inspect the removed axle shaft for signs of damage, and prepare a lock if necessary.

7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order - make sure that the sealing ring is installed on the support disk before installing the axle shaft.
