Note: Checking the geometric parameters of the suspension should be done on a special stand in a car service workshop.

Checking and adjusting the front wheel alignment

Checking and adjusting the front wheel alignment
1 - Mark on the steering shaft; 2 - Mark on the steering gear cover; 3 - Transverse steering rod; 4 - Tightening clamps; 5 - Connecting rod; 6 - Locknuts

1. Make sure that all necessary conditions are met (see Section Car Wheel Alignment Angles - General Information).

2. Make sure that the steering wheel and steering gear are in the central position - the long mark (1) on the steering shaft must be aligned with the mark (2) on the steering gear casing. If necessary, adjust the position of the steering wheel by no more than one tooth.

3. Fix the steering wheel in the central position and install the lock, placing a protective pad underneath it if necessary.

4. Loosen the locknuts (6) on the cross rod (3) and the tie rod clamps (4) on the connecting rod (5).

5. The toe-in value is adjusted by rotating the adjusting segment of the connecting rod (5) located between the clamping clamps and, if necessary, the end of the transverse rod (3), which must first be released from the steering arm using a suitable puller.

6. Having achieved the required result, tighten the lock nuts (6) and clamps (4).
