1. Remove the hatch cover trim (see Section Removal and installation the upper hatch cover trim panel).

2. Unbolt the guide plate (1) and, by pulling forward, release the cable from the guide tube (3).

3. Press the button to move the hatch to the tilted position and wait until the cable (5) comes out of the gearbox - if necessary, use the emergency method of driving the hatch (see Section Interior controls and equipment). If the cable cannot be released, the drive mechanism should be disassembled and the guide tube (3) should be removed.



4. Before installation, lubricate the end of the new cable with a suitable lubricant (001 981 14 51). Make sure that the cable is completely inserted into the guide tube (3) - the guide plate (4) must enter the hole in the tube.

5. Contact your Mercedes-Benz service center for assistance to perform the basic drive cable adjustment procedure.

6. Installation of the remaining components is carried out in the reverse order of their dismantling.
