High Voltage Coil — Removal and Installation (Mercedes-Benz C-Class W201)

Removal



1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. On all models, the coil is bolted to a bracket at the front, left side of the engine compartment. Unfasten and remove the plastic cover (see fig. 3.2).

3. Follow the main high tension wire back from the distributor to the ignition coil and disconnect it from the socket on the ignition coil (see fig. 3.3).

4. Remove the nuts and disconnect the positive and negative low voltage wires from the coil terminals. Label each low voltage wire to avoid confusion during installation.



5. Loosen and remove the mounting bolts, then remove the coil from the bracket.

Installation



6. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
