Air filter — removal and installation (Mercedes-Benz A-Class W168)

Attention! For diesel engines, the air filter is removed together with the intake module, see the relevant chapter.


1. Disconnect the air intake pipe 1 (see illustration).

1. Disconnect the air intake pipe 1 (see illustration).


2. Disconnect the air intake connecting pipe 2 (see illustration 6.1).

3. Cars A 190. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose located under the resonator box, unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the resonator.

4. Unscrew the bolts 5 securing the engine control unit 3 to the air filter housing 4, remove the unit and set it aside from the work area (see illustration 6.1).

5. Unscrew cap 6 from the oil filler neck so that it does not interfere (see illustration 6.1).

6. Move air filter 4 to the right (see arrow in illustration 6.1), remove from guides 7 and remove.

The air filter is installed in the reverse order of removal.

To facilitate installation, lubricate its guides with a thin layer of grease. Replace the engine control unit sealing ring with a new one and also lubricate it with a thin layer before installation.
