Introduction
The choice of good tools is the key to good service and successful car repairs. For car owners who do not have such tools, their purchase will cause a significant expense. However, as long as the purchased tools are safe and of good quality, they will last for many years and save a lot of money.
To help the car owner decide what tools they need to perform the various jobs described in this manual, we have compiled three lists of tools under the following headings: "Maintenance and minor repairs", "Medium and major repairs", And "Special tool". Owners with no service and repair experience should start by purchasing a tool kit for service and minor repairs and limit themselves to a simple workplace near the car. Then, as you gain experience, you can move on to solving more complex problems. This will require the purchase of additional tools as needed. So the toolbox "Maintenance and minor repairs" can be increased to a set "Medium and major repairs" over a significant period of time, without large one-time costs. Experienced car enthusiasts can have a set of tools suitable for most repairs, as well as additional tools from "Special" categories, if there is confidence that the cost of their acquisition will be justified by the frequent use of these tools.
Tool kit for maintenance and minor repairs
This list provides the minimum set of tools required for maintenance and minor repairs. We recommend buying combination wrenches (ring wrench on one side and open-end wrench on the other); although these wrenches are more expensive, they have the advantages of both types of wrenches.

Although it is expensive, however, it is very convenient for making repairs when loosening nuts and bolts with various heads. We recommend a wrench for these square head wrenches. as it can be used with most torque heads. The tools in this list sometimes need to be supplemented with tools from the Special List:

Special tools and fixtures
The tools and accessories on this list are not used frequently and are expensive, but must be used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. If relatively complex mechanical work is rarely done, the purchase of these tools will not pay off. If this is the case, you could team up with friends (or join the club of motorists), to buy such tools or rent them from specialists.
The following list contains only those tools and accessories that are commercially available, and not those that are produced by the vehicle manufacturer specifically for the representative of the company. In the text of this manual you can find links to special tools. An alternative method of doing the job without special tools is usually given. However, sometimes there is no alternative. If this is the case and the relevant tools cannot be purchased or borrowed, you will need to entrust the work to a representative of the firm.

Buying tools
Supermarkets and large parts stores often offer excellent high quality tools and accessories at low prices.
Remember, you don't have to buy the most expensive instrument, but avoid buying the cheapest one as well. beware "profitable deals", offered at sales from car trunks or similar places. You can, of course, buy good tools here at reasonable prices, but always try to buy products that meet safety requirements. If in doubt, check with the store owner or manager.
Tool storage and maintenance
Once you have purchased the necessary tool kit, keep it in a clean and usable condition. After use, always clean the tools of dirt, oil and metal particles with a dry cloth. Never leave them at work unless you are currently using them. Simple tools like screwdrivers and pliers are kept on the walls of the garage. Keep eternal keys and socket wrench heads in a metal box. Any measuring instruments, indicators, etc., should be stored in a place where they will be protected from damage and rust.
Exercise basic caution when working with tools and fixtures. From time to time, nicks appear on the hammer head, and screwdriver blades become dull. Give your tools a little attention, work with sandpaper or a file, and you will return the tools to their original state.

Workplace
If the scope of work exceeds normal maintenance, a good workplace is essential. For example, such work as assembly and disassembly of the engine, etc. should be made in a garage under a roof. Wherever possible, disassembly of any unit should be done on a clean, flat bench or table of suitable height.
Any workbench must be equipped with a vise with an opening of up to 100 mm. These vises are suitable for most jobs. As mentioned above, a dry, clean space must be provided for the storage of tools, as well as space for storing all kinds of lubricants, liquids, touch-up paint, etc.
One of the most popular tools in the garage is an electric drill with a chuck for drills up to at least 8 mm in diameter, which can be used for a wide variety of jobs.
Last but not least, always keep some old newspapers and clean rags in your work area, and keep your work area clean.
