Removal



1. Remove the lock cylinder (36) (see Section Removal and installation the ignition lock cylinder).

2. Remove the steering wheel (120) and the spiral contact drum (see Section Removal and installation the steering wheel and the steering column spiral contact drum).

3. Remove the combination steering column switch (S4) (see Chapter On-board electrical equipment).

4. Separate the facing panel (88).

5. Disconnect the connector (a) of the contact switch (37q) of the adjusting lever (93).

6. On models with AT, remove the shift lock from the steering column lock by squeezing the latches and pulling the lock back, removing it from the mounting clips.

7. Move forward and remove the transponder (c) from the lock.

8. To avoid damaging the steering shaft splines when knocking out the cylindrical pin (37s), screw in the bolt (32c).

9. Lower the adjustment lever (93).



10. Using a suitable punch, knock the cylindrical pin (37s) out of the lock assembly (37) - the lower guide pin will be disabled.

11. After releasing the lock, disconnect the contact connector (b).

12. Remove the lock (37).

13. Remove the contact switch (37q).

Installation



1. Connect the contact switch (37q) to the new lock (37).

2. Place the connector (b) in place, making sure that the latch is securely locked.

3. Install the new lock onto the steering column, making sure the assembly is seated correctly (arrows).

4. Insert the cylindrical pin (37s) into the lock (37) - squeeze the upper and lower sections of the lock with pliers.

5. Replace the contact switch (32q) and make sure it functions properly.

6. Remove the bolt (32c).

7. Place the transponder (c) on the lock (37).

8. On models with AT, connect the shift blocker to the lock.

9. Connect the wiring harness (a) to the adjusting lever contact switch.

10. Install the trim panel (88).

11. Set the combination switch (S4).

12. Install the spiral contact drum and steering wheel (120) (see Section Removal and installation the steering wheel and the steering column spiral contact drum).

13. Install the lock cylinder (36) (see Section Removal and installation the ignition lock cylinder).

14. Secure the steering column by lifting the adjustment lever (93) up.
