1. EGR cooler installation details on models 163.113 (612 series engine) are shown in the illustration, to which all references found in the text refer.

2. Drain the cooling system (see Chapter Checking the cooling system and frost resistance of the coolant, replacing the liquid).

3. Remove the cylinder head cover trim panels.

4. Unscrew the fastening screws (3) and remove the support bracket (4) with the connection pipe to the cooling system tract (2).

5. Remove the remaining mounting bolts (3), remove the EGR cooler assembly (1) from the cylinder head and separate it from the exhaust system.

6. Installation is carried out in the reverse order - do not forget to replace the sealing gasket.

7. Finally, start the engine and check the exhaust system components for signs of developing leaks.

1. EGR cooler installation details on models 163.128 (628 series engine) are shown in the illustrations, to which all references found in the text refer.

Note: The EGR cooler (1) is removed as an assembly using positioners (Y27/9 and Y27/10).


2. Remove the air distributor assembly (see Section Servicing air intake tract components).

3. Disconnect the electrical wiring connectors (2).

4. Disconnect the cooling lines (3) from the positioners (Y27/9 and 27/10) and cooler (1) EGR.

5. First pull up (arrow A) the rear part of the cooler (1), then move the assembly forward (arrow B) and disconnect the nipple connectors (5 and 6) - the sealing rings must be replaced without fail.

6. If necessary, remove the positioners from the cooler assembly (1) (Y27/9 and Y27/10) (see below).

7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order - do not forget to replace the sealing gasket (see below).
