1. The details of the installation of the washer fluid reservoir are shown in the illustrations to which all references in the text refer.

2. Remove the upper frame cross member (see Section Removal and installation the upper front cross member of the frame).

3. Disconnect the electrical wiring and hoses from the washer fluid supply pumps (5) and, if equipped, from the fluid level sensor.

4. Release the refrigeration line hose (3) from the retainer (4).

5. On models 163.128 (ML 400 CDI) remove the covers and intermediate clamps securing the hoses to the fuse/relay mounting block.



6. Release the cooler heat exchanger (10) from the lower mounting bushings.

7. With the help of an assistant, lift the cooler (10), unscrew the bolt (2), release the washer fluid reservoir (1) from the mounting bushings (6), move it inward and, pulling it upward, remove it from the engine compartment.

8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order - make sure that the tank (1) is completely seated in the bushings (6) and that the side retainer is securely snapped into place.
