Removal
1. Wet the rear window with water.
2. Turn on the windshield wiper and let it run for a short time. Turn off the wiper. The wiper blade should return to its original position.
3. Mark the position of the wiper blade on the rear window, using, for example, tape. It is assumed that the position of the wiper arm is adjusted correctly and the marks applied will be the standard.
4. Remove the protective cap 1 and unscrew the nut 2 (see illustration).

5. Remove brush holder 3 from the shaft (see illustration 22.4).
Installation
6. Make sure the wiper motor is in its home position. To do this, turn on the ignition, then briefly turn on the wiper motor and turn it off using the steering column switch.
7. Install the wiper arm onto the shaft, using the marks made with tape before removing the wiper.
8. Screw on nut 2 of the lever mount (see illustration 22.4).
9. Check the initial position of the lever again. To do this, wet the rear window with water and turn on the wiper for a short time. The lever should return to its initial position, and the brush should not go beyond the edge of the glass.
If necessary, remove the lever again by unscrewing the mounting nut and repeat the adjustment.
10. Tighten nut 2 securing the lever to the shaft with a force of 15 Nm (see illustration 22.4).
