Removing
1. Open the tailgate and secure it to prevent it from falling.
2. Pry off the locking bracket 1 of the stop with a small screwdriver 2 and remove the gas-filled stop 3 from the upper ball joint 4 on the door 5 (see illustration).
Attention! Do not remove the retaining clip because it will be damaged and will not provide the necessary pressure.
Attention! When installing a new gas-filled strut, the old one must be drained of oil before disposal. To do this, clamp the stop in a vise and, stepping back about 20 mm from its bottom, apply the appropriate mark. After that, drill a hole at the mark with a 3 mm drill. Remove the stop from the vise and pull out and push in its piston several times to squeeze out the oil to be collected from it.
Installation
3. Attach the lower and upper support legs to the ball joints with the retaining clips.
