ECT Sensor Installation Details on Diesel Models


1. The details of the ECT sensor installation are shown in the illustration to which all references in the text refer.

2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

3. Remove the powertrain trim panels.

4. Remove the air distributor (see Chapter Removal and installation air intake tract components).

5. Drain the coolant from the radiator (see Chapter Checking the cooling system and frost resistance of the coolant, replacing the liquid).

6. Disconnect the electrical wiring connector (1), release the retainer (2) and remove the ECT sensor (B11/4).

7. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

8. Finally, fill the cooling system and check its components for signs of developing leaks.
