To check the oil pressure, you will need an oil pressure gauge with an adapter to connect to the chain tensioner hole, as well as a thermometer to measure the temperature of the engine oil.

Cars with gasoline engines



1. Cars produced since 8/99. Press the locking clip that secures the separate coolant expansion tank, remove it and set it aside from the work area without disconnecting the hoses from it.

2. Unscrew the threaded plug 1 on the chain tensioner 2 together with the sealing ring (see illustration).

3. Screw the oil pressure gauge adapter into the chain tensioner hole, installing the sealing ring.

4. Connect the oil pressure gauge.

5. Check the engine oil level.

6. Check the engine oil temperature with a special thermometer, inserting it instead of the oil level indicator rod.

7. Start the engine and measure the oil pressure. The parameters are given in the table.

8. Disconnect the pressure gauge and adapter.



9. Screw the threaded plug into the chain tensioner hole, installing a new gasket on it. Tighten the plug with a force of 15 Nm.

10. Reinstall the coolant expansion tank.

Diesel Engine Cars



11. Unscrew the threaded plug on the side of the oil filter housing and remove it together with the gasket.

12. Screw the oil pressure gauge adapter into the oil filter housing, installing the sealing ring.

13. Connect the oil pressure gauge to the adapter.

14. Check the engine oil level.

15. Check the engine oil temperature with a special thermometer, inserting it instead of the oil level indicator rod.

16. Start the engine and measure the oil pressure. The parameters are given in the table.

17. Disconnect the pressure gauge and the connecting element.

18. Screw the threaded plug with a new gasket into the filter housing and tighten the plug with a force of 15 Nm.
