Ignition switch (Mercedes-Benz A-Class W168)

Ignition switch


The key in the ignition switch is in position 0. The ignition key can only be removed from the switch after it is set to position 0.

The steering is locked when the key is removed from the ignition switch.

In vehicles with automatic transmission, the key can only be removed from the ignition switch after the gearshift lever is in position P.

The key in the ignition switch is in position 1. Most consumers of the on-board electrical network can be turned on.

Key in ignition switch in position 2. Vehicles with petrol engine. Ready to drive. Vehicles with diesel engine. Preheating device on and ready to drive.

The key in the ignition switch is in position 3. Starting and stopping the engine.

The steering wheel is locked by turning the wheel after removing the key from the ignition switch.

The steering wheel is unlocked after inserting the key into the ignition switch. At the same time, the wheel should be moved to the right while simultaneously moving the key in the lock to position 1.

Anti-theft system



The anti-theft system is activated after the key is removed from the ignition switch.

The system is disabled when the key is inserted into the lock and moved to position 2.

Attention! If the engine does not start and the instrument panel display alternately displays messages and then you should contact a specialized workshop.
