Central lock pump — replacement (Mercedes-Benz A-Class W168)

The electric pump for the central locking is located in the boot.

Removal



1. Fold the rear seat forward.

2. Remove the cover that covers the spare wheel.

3. Remove, if present, the container with TIREFIT tyre sealant 1 and pump 2, and unscrew pump 3 of the central locking system (see illustration).

4. Remove the central locking pump together with the foam seals, having marked the installation position of the pump before doing so.

5. Disconnect the foam seal 4 and remove the pump (see illustration).

6. Disconnect the multi-pin plug 5 from the pump (see illustration 53.5).

7. Carefully move the valve with a suitable screwdriver until it stops and disconnect, by prying it with a screwdriver, the pressure hose connector 6 (see illustration 53.5).



The pump is installed in the reverse order of removal. In this case, the valve should be moved back to the stop, and the halves of the foam packaging of the pump should be secured with tape.
