6. Check the pressure plate for burnout cracks and grooves. Replace pressure plate if necessary.
7. Check the status of the segments (see arrows in illustration) diaphragm spring. If necessary, carefully align the protrusions of the segments with pliers. The permissible residual thickness of the segments must be at least 0.3 mm.
8. Check diaphragm spring segments for cracks, rivet strength and seating. Replace disc with damaged or loose rivets.
9. Before installing a new clutch, remove the protective lacquer coating with a solvent from the rubbing surfaces of the pressure plate. After that, treat the rubbing surfaces of the driven and pressure disks with coarse sandpaper.
10. Replace oily or mechanically damaged clutch discs.
11. Check that the release bearing is quiet, not worn, and has a tight fit. If not, replace the bearing.
