Removing
1. Remove the starter.
2. Unscrew the nut and remove the short wire from terminal 1 of the starter (see illustration).
3. Unscrew the two bolts and remove the traction relay (see illustration).
Examination
The main test condition is that the battery is fully charged.
4. Connect an auxiliary wire to the starter housing, the other end of which is connected to the negative pole of the battery.
5. Connect the second auxiliary wire to the positive battery post.
6. Connect the other end of this wire for a short time to terminal 50 on the traction relay.
The starter gear should move forward and the starter should start. If this does not happen, remove the starter and replace with a new one.
Installation
7. Seal the joint between the starter and the traction relay with a suitable sealant.
8. Establish the traction relay in a starter and screw in bolts of fastening.
9. Fasten the short wire to the connecting terminal of the traction relay.
10. Check the performance of the starter before installing it on the car.
11. Install the starter in place.
