Removing
The interior rear view mirror mounting base plate is glued to the windshield. The mirror holder is put on the base plate from top to bottom along the surface of the windshield.
Workshops to remove the mirror use special pliers to release the retainers.
1. Insert special pliers from below into the slot on the base plate as far as possible.
2. Squeeze the pliers just enough to release the retainer. At the same time slide the mirror holder on the plate up and off.
If special pliers are not available, then use curved needle-nose pliers, which, like special pliers, are wound into a slot on the base plate.
3. Press latch 1 up towards the mirror holder, i.e. from the windshield to the saloon (see illustration). As soon as both protrusions 3 on the latch have moved down relative to the surface of the base plate, the mirror holder 2 can be removed by leading it up along the surface of the windshield.
Installation
4. Install the mirror holder on top of the base plate and slide it onto the plate until it locks into place.
